Olive Oil

Traditional Uses: The predominant fatty acid in olive oil is a monounsaturated fat called oleic acid, making up 73% of the total oil content. Oleic acid can penetrate the second layer of the skin (dermis) resulting in a powerful moisturizer. Studies also suggest that oleic acid reduces inflammation. In addition, olive oil is also loaded with powerful antioxidants.

Rose (Rosa damascene Mill., flos)

Traditional Uses:  This iconic flower has been used for centuries to reduce inflammation and calm the skin.

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)

Traditional Uses:  Chamomile’s medicinal usage dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt. The writing of Hippocrates made reference to the flower’s properties.  It has long been used to promote wound healing, treat what is now known as eczema and reduce inflammation.

Orange peel (Citrus aurantium)

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Barberry (Berberis vulgaris)

Traditional Uses:  The root and stem bark contain berberine, an alkaloid with antibiotic/antimicrobial activity and may reduce inflammation.  Ointments with barberry are used to treat skin irritations, infections, acne and psoriasis.

Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa)

Traditional Uses:  Hibiscus has been known for its ability to help firm the skin, reduce the appearance of pore size and freshen and brighten skin tone.

Alkanet Root

Traditional Uses: Essential oil of orange is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory which makes it an ideal ingredient in your skin and hair routine. This oil isn’t just for acne-prone skin though: It’s been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, collagen production, and blood flow, all of which are essential for anti-aging. Using skin products with sweet essential oil overtime can smooth wrinkles and decrease the gravity of those not so fine lines.

Traditional Uses: Sourced from the Rosa damascene plant, essential oil of rose is known for its ability to soothe and re-balance dry or sensitive skin types, counteracting redness for a calmer, more even-toned complexion.
